project 4 part 2 - Large bezel

For the more in depth bezel I wanted to take another stab at a gun with some new techniques. For this gun I cut a wine glass down and filled it with colored resin. I then bezeled the glass onto the wood with small tabs hidden by a ring of copper. I tried painting the gun just as an experiment. Again, could be cleaner, but it was a blast.

Project 4 part 1- Small bezel.

This was a project i was extremely happy with, then extremely sick with. It's also the only piece that strays out of my theme. I pulled the eye out of a doll to make a creepy ring. I was very pleased with the results. BUT, as I was using a hot glue gun in my studio I accidentally placed the gun too close to the ring, which melted the plastic eye. It happens. Lesson learned.

This is what it looked like before the accident.

Project 3 - Toy

For the toy project I wanted to combine a number of my favorite things growing up, ray guns and woodworking. This was a challenge but very fun. It didn't turn out as clean as I would have liked but as a somewhat experimental piece I am pleased with the results.

Project 2 - Box

For the Box project I decided to explore my character a little further. I pit a little more detail into the head as well as extend the sculpture to a full form by adding the body and the flame and smoke to act as a base. The head opens and acts as the box.

Project 1 - Rivets

For this semester I developed a consistent theme of playful futuristic subjects. For the first project I created a little robot head. As an illustration major I enjoy doing more illustrative sculptures and exploring new techniques.
